Do you eat? Do you like great music? Do you enjoy people watching? If your answer to these questions is yes, then there is one destination you must put on your bucket list….NOLA, or for the uninitiated, New Orleans. And if you don’t tow, or perhaps shouldn’t drive after a few hours on Bourbon Street, then there is no better place to stay than the French Quarter RV Resort.
Just six walkable blocks from Bourbon Street, this small “boutique” resort is the perfect place to park your rig for a few days. And if you are at all concerned about driving your large rig in a major city, don’t be. The resort is less than 1/4 mile from the I-10 exit, making accessibility a big easy too.
Each of the 52 paved sites are at least 30’ wide x 60’ deep and features 20/30/50 amp electric, cable TV, city water and sewage. Though the resort’s website did not guarantee wi-fi at every site, we had no problems with access or speed. A centrally located clubhouse provides a recreation room with computers, fitness center, laundry rooms, ice machine, Wi-Fi, ATM machine & 4 private baths with shower. There is also a small pool and jacuzzi, though during our visit it was a bit chilly to take advantage of these amenities.
The park encircled by a wall, and is entered via an ornate wrought iron gate. The hostess opened the gate as we approached and walked to our rig. She provided our campsite number, and invited us to park before checking in. I was surprised to find a lobby that looked more like a fine hotel than a campsite.
This morning we will take our bikes about 12 blocks to Cafe Du Monde. I doubt however that we will burn all the calories we consume.
