During our visit to Florida last month, we had an opportunity to visit a community which offers homes with RV garages. If you enjoy pickleball, golf and want a to keep your motorhome close by…this might just be for you.
Arlington Ridge offers an exceptional retirement lifestyle in Leesburg, Florida. While the majority of the 1000 home sites are traditional two garage homes, approximately 75 are built to also accommodate an RV garage. These 85′ wide home sites feature 20′ x 57′ motor coach garages with 20′ doors for easy entry and exit and 50 amp electrical hookup. While RV sewer hookup is not available at each site, the community offers a dump station … a fabulous convenience at the end of a long trip.
The builder, FLC, offers a variety of floor plans that can be customized to meet the owner’s needs. The smallest homes offer 1416 square feet of living area and start under $200,000. Homes with RV garages start at 1707 square feet of living area and start just under $300,000. However, during our tour, we found that new owners typically customize their homes … adding space for other “toys” and upgrading interior finishes bringing some larger homes (2500 square feet) to as much as $500,000.
While the homes were well-built and beautifully designed, we find that most people choose these sorts of communities for the lifestyle. With 1000 home sites, Arlington Ridge offers a small community feel with the amenities those of us over 55 have come to enjoy:
- Pickleball courts;
- Championship golf course;
- On-site restaurant and pub;
- Heated resort and lap style pools;
- Fitness facility;
- Arts & crafts room;
- Large ballroom for parties and special events; and
- A small movie theatre just for residents.
Their very affordable monthly amenity fee is only $237 and includes lawn service, cable TV, and internet. All these things have contributed to Arlington Ridge being rated #1 among best retirement communities under $250,000.
Is It Time to Settle Down?
Many full-time RVers consider establishing a home base as they get older. Florida residence is often preferred as it offers warm winters in a tax-friendly state. While we don’t intend to give up RVing entirely we may want to set down roots none the less. Communities that offer homes with RV garages offer a great transition for those who are coming off the full-time lifestyle or for those of us that just want to keep our motorhome nearby.
Other Homes with RV Garages
Just in case you missed it, here are some other communities that offer RV-port homes:
