As you read this we have left our summer home, Lake Falling Star RV Resort, Texas for a few weeks in California. We will miss Dale Texas, which is just south of Austin. We will really miss Lake Falling Star.
Lake Falling Star RV Resort
Lake Falling Star is a newer RV park. It is run by a couple that seems to always be working. When we travel in larger cities, like Austin, we find the spaces too compact for our large rig. Though it is almost a one-hour drive to get to Austin, we think this RV park is worth the drive.
The spaces are generous. The facilities are clean, the neighbors and prices are great and you can’t beat the view. The park is set at the top of a hill, overlooking a beautiful lake below. I have been able to get up every morning and take the boys down to the water to swim and run while I do my workouts. For us, having a place for the boys to run is so important.
We left our fifth wheel here for about 3 weeks right before Hurricane Harvey hit Texas. We are told they shut down all the local roads due to flooding. Luckily, the way they designed the park allowed the water to flow away from where the RVs are parked. You can see in the pictures what we came back to. It may seem that the water is high, but it has gone done considerably in the past month.
We learned that RVers from other parks in central Texas, actually moved to Lake Falling Star to be safe. Kelly, the owner, also told us that one of the park residents went into labor during the storm. Kelly made sure the women got to the local hospital. This is just one example of the can-do attitude she and her husband exhibit every day.
I absolutely love this park and the people. I am pretty sure this will be our home in central Texas. As an added bonus we learned that Lockhart, just a few miles away, is a Texas barbecue destination. What else could you ask for?
